Highly RecommendedNatureBeach/Coast

A beach on Jeju's east coast known for surfing, emerald water, and relatively shallow depth.

Woljeongri Beach (월정리해수욕장) sits in Gujwa, on the eastern side of Jeju City, Jeju Province. The name means "where the moon stays." The beach is on the shallow side, which makes it a common choice for families with children, and cafes, restaurants, and lodging have clustered nearby as the beach has grown more popular.

Surfing and water sports

Woljeongri is popular with surfers because its waves arrive at a relatively consistent height. Paddleboarding, snorkeling, and kayaking are also practiced here. Several cafes along the beach have placed chairs facing the water, and photos taken in these chairs have circulated widely enough that the spots have become known informally as photo locations.

Olle Trail connection

The beach forms part of the Jeju Olle Trail, specifically Route 20 (Gimnyeong to Hado) and the Gimnyeong-Woljeong Geological Trail section. Walkers on these routes pass along the beach and can stop to rest within sight and smell of the sea.
