A coastal cape in Seogwipo with a stone beacon mound, a red-earth hill, and a lighthouse.

Seopjikoji is a cape that juts out from the coast at Sinyang-ri, Seongsan-eup, in Seogwipo. The name comes from "koji," a Jeju dialect word for a cape or headland. It sits off the main coastal road, and visitors typically reach it by turning off at Sinyang-ri and following a paved road to the tip of the cape, or by taking the coastal road that runs past Sinyang Beach before turning toward the site.

Hill and Lighthouse

On the broad, flat hill at the cape stands Hyeopjayeondae, a stone beacon mound once used to send fire signals. It is about 4 meters high and roughly square, measuring 9 meters on each side, and is preserved close to its original form. Northeast of the beacon rises a peak known as Bulgeun Oreum ("red hill"), made of reddish volcanic ash called "song-i" in Jeju dialect. A white lighthouse stands at its summit, reached by a set of steel stairs. From the railing at the top, the coastline of Seopjikoji is visible below.

Canola Fields

The cape is known for its canola (rapeseed) flowers, which bloom in fields set against the bright sunlight and the blue sea.
