A footbridge over the Nakdong River in Gyeongsang, shaped after a pair of straw shoes.

Wolyeonggyo Bridge crosses the Nakdong River in Gyeongsang, where the surrounding hills and a dam form a basin-like landscape. The bridge takes its name from Wolyeongdae, a pavilion that was submerged when the dam was built and later relocated near the site, combined with the names of the nearby Wolgok-myeon and Eumdal-gol areas.

Design and Legend

The bridge's shape is modeled on a pair of mituri, traditional straw shoes, said to have been woven from a wife's hair for her deceased husband. The design commemorates the story of Yi Eung-tae and his wife, a couple who lived in the area, and is presented as a lasting tribute to their relationship.

Featured on Television

The bridge appeared in an episode of a Korean variety show, where two cast members walked along it in hanbok, with night lighting adding to the atmosphere. Visitors can also ride a boat on the lake to view the bridge from the water.
