A small volcanic cone in Aewol, Jeju, on Olle Trail Route 16.

Susanbong is a small volcanic cone (oreum) in Susan-ri, Aewol-eup, on Jeju Island. It has a round crater, and a small pond forms at the summit when water collects there, which gives it the alternate name Mulmeoreum ("water-hill"). It is also called Susanbong ("beacon-mound peak") for a former signal beacon at the top. The peak lies on Jeju Olle Trail Route 16, and the route passes Susan Reservoir and a stand of black pine (gomsol) before reaching the summit.

On the trail

The path and steps up Susanbong are well maintained, and the climb is used by families with young children. Reaching the summit takes about 20 minutes; allowing time to look around the surrounding area on the way up brings the walk to about 40 minutes.
