Lotte World is a theme park and major recreation complex in Sincheon-dong, Songpa District, Seoul, operated by the Lotte Group. It combines an indoor theme park called Lotte World Adventure with an outdoor section called Magic Island, along with shopping malls, a hotel, an observation tower, a Korean folk museum, sports facilities and movie theaters. It sits near Jamsil Station on Seoul Subway Line 2 and Line 8, and is open every day of the year from 10 am to 9 pm.
Adventure and Magic Island
Lotte World Adventure is an indoor theme park with more than 40 amusement facilities, including rides such as Gyro Drop and Atlantis. Fantasy parades take place daily at 2 pm and 7 pm, except Mondays. In May 2013, Lotte World Underland opened on the first basement floor as a theme zone styled after a goblin village, with a 4D shooting theater, a media zone and restaurants. Magic Island is the outdoor section, which in the 1990s featured high-altitude fighter jet, parachute and wave rides; it now has gyro attractions including Gyro Drop, Gyro Swing and Gyro Spin. Some Magic Island rides close depending on weather, including temperatures below 0°C or above 30°C, high wind speeds, or rain over 0.2mm. Adventure also houses Lotte World Ice Rink, a skating rink measuring 36 by 65 meters on the third basement floor, along with KidZania, a children's vocational theme park.
Folk museum and other facilities
The Korean folk museum inside Lotte World presents around five thousand years of Korean history and folk culture across a history exhibition hall, a model village, a play area and a recreated marketplace street. Lotte World Garden Stage serves as the venue for seasonal musical shows and public broadcasts, while Lotte World Star Avenue is a themed street built around Korean pop culture with experiential entertainment facilities. The complex also includes the Lotte Department Store Jamsil branch and a duty-free shop. Lotte World Aquarium, located within Lotte World Mall in Songpa District, opened in October 2014.
