Highly RecommendedLandmarkArchitecture

A two-story library and event space at the center of COEX Mall in Seoul.

Starfield Library (별마당 도서관, Byeolmadang Library) occupies about 2,800 square meters (roughly 850 pyeong) at the center of COEX Mall. The space is built around bookshelves 13 meters tall, and the shelf lighting is designed to give the open area the feel of a large reading room. Visitors will find various tables and power outlets for laptop use throughout the space.

Layout and Collection

The library is arranged over two connected levels. The first floor is set up as a separate reading area that overlooks the sunken space on the basement level below. The collection totals around 70,000 books, covering subjects such as the humanities, economics, and hobbies and practical living. It also includes a section for foreign-language books, a section modeled on the personal libraries of well-known figures, and e-books that can be read on iPads. A dedicated magazine section holds about 600 titles, including magazines from abroad, which the library notes as a feature that sets it apart from typical libraries.

Cultural Programs

Starfield Library also hosts cultural events built around books and reading, including talks where readers can meet authors directly, poetry readings, lectures with invited scholars and public figures, and book concerts that combine readings with live music.
