Travel Map: Seoul
Lotte World | 롯데월드
Seoul’s indoor-outdoor theme park in the heart of Jamsil
Worth Visiting?
With the right expectations. Lotte World combines the world’s largest indoor theme park (Adventure) with an outdoor lakeside area (Magic Island), all connected to Jamsil Station by subway. It is compact, busy, and slightly chaotic. People either love it for the vibes or feel overwhelmed if they go at the wrong time.
It works especially well for first-time visitors, winter trips, rainy days, and couples. The indoor section means weather never matters.
Skip it if you are a hardcore thrill ride fan, have very limited time or dislike crowds.
Highlights
Lotte World Adventure (Indoor)
The massive indoor section is the main draw. Rides, parades, shows, and themed zones all under one roof. Even on rainy or freezing days, everything runs fully.
Magic Island (Outdoor)
Sits on an island in Seokchon Lake with the park’s bigger rides, Gyro Drop and Atlantis. The views toward Lotte World Tower at night are worth it alone.
Parades and Shows
Surprisingly well-produced. Check the schedule when you arrive and plan around them.
Things to Note
- Pick the rides you are most excited to go on and grab a queue ticket at a kiosk, this will give you a time to come back and queue up at. Some rides do get “booked up” for the day if it is busy.
- The food is overpriced and average at best, fine if you are hungry but not worth going just for the food.
- The rides are more about themes than thrills. If you are used to big Western theme parks, the rides are not extreme.
Wait Times and Crowds
- Popular rides like Atlantis and Gyro Drop have an average 60 to 120 minutes wait time on busy days.
- Mid-tier rides: 30 to 60 minutes, smaller rides and shows: 10 to 30 minutes.
- Weekends, school holidays, and afternoons are packed.
- The park feels busiest from around 1 pm to 6 pm. Korean school trips also heavily impact weekday crowds. Tuesdays and Thursdays tend to be less busy.
Getting There
By Subway (Recommended)
- Jamsil Station (Line 2 / Line 8), Exit 4. Follow signs to Lotte World. The entrance is connected underground through Lotte World Mall.
- The journey from central Seoul takes about 30 minutes.
By Bus
- Multiple bus routes stop at Jamsil Station. Use Naver Maps for the most convenient route.
Local Tips
- Go early or do not go at all. Arriving at opening gives you the best shot at popular rides.
- Check school holiday calendars. Korean school trips can fill the park on seemingly random weekdays.
- Start with Atlantis or Gyro Drop if they are on your list.
- The After 4 ticket is a smart option if you want the evening atmosphere, parades, and night lights without the full day commitment or price.
- Magic Pass (fast pass) is worth considering on weekends to skip lines on popular rides.
- Lotte World Mall is connected to the park. You can eat there before or after for better food at better prices.
