Ganwoljae (Ganwoljae) is a 900-meter-high mountain pass located in Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan Metropolitan City, and is a representative landmark of the Yeongnam Alps.
Famous for its silver reed fields in autumn, the expansive fields and stunning scenery attract many hikers and tourists.
Ganwoljae is a perfect spot for forest bathing, photography, and family outings. Nearby, there are well-maintained hiking trails, including Ganwolsan (1,069m) and Sinbulsan (1,159m).
Ganwoljae Hiking Trail
- The most popular trail is a gentle forest path, approximately 6km long, that begins at the parking lot and continues along the forest road to Ganwoljae.
- This is an easy hike, suitable even for beginners, taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- The trail is mostly a forest road made of crushed stone, making it easy to walk. There’s a rest stop at the Ganwoljae Rest Stop, where you can purchase snacks like drinks and instant noodles.
- The trail from the Ganwoljae Rest Stop to the summit of Sinbulsan Mountain includes some steep sections, making it a moderately difficult hike.
- The section from the entrance to Ganwoljae is more of a leisurely stroll, offering breathtaking views of the silver grass fields surrounding Ganwoljae and the Yeongnam Alps.
- The most popular route starts from Baenae 2 Public Parking Lot, and is more convenient to use by car than public transportation.
