Dudo is an island lying southeast of the Songdo Peninsula in Seo-gu, Busan. The name comes from "Daegari-seom," a name locals still use today. It lies close to the mainland and draws anglers who fish along its shore, along with visitors interested in its seabirds and rock formations.

Wildlife and Plants

The island is known as a habitat for large numbers of seagulls, the bird that symbolizes Busan. Native plants growing on Dudo include camellia, bisjuki, and black pine, and sea coral is found in the surrounding waters.

Coastal Geology

Along the island's coastal cliffs, sediment from the lower Hadaepo Formation, laid down at the end of the Cretaceous period, sits alongside volcanic rock. The cliffs expose a range of geological features, including dinosaur egg nest fossils, unconformities, dikes, faults, and flower structures. An unmanned lighthouse on the island also serves as a navigational marker for passing ships.
