화암동굴
Hwaam Cave is Korea’s first themed cave tourist attraction and the only cave in the world that combines a gold mine and a natural limestone cave.
In 1934, natural stalagmites and stalactites were discovered within the cave, leading to its development as a themed cave with gold and nature, becoming a popular tourist attraction.
On November 1, 2019, it was designated a Natural Monument of Korea[1]. It is also a National Geopark.
Opening hours are 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM and the cave is closed every Wednesday.
Admission is 7,000 won for adults, 5,500 won for teenagers, and 4,000 won for children. A separate fee applies for the monorail.
Inside the cave, there is an exhibition hall that recreates the gold mining and gold product manufacturing processes, offering educational experiences. The tour takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and can be accessed by monorail or on foot.
