북촌한옥마을
Bukchon, located between Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, was the residential area of the Joseon Dynasty’s aristocrats and high-ranking officials, boasting over 600 years of history. Approximately 900 traditional hanok houses are well-preserved, and the village is still inhabited today.
It also serves as the backdrop for the drama “Kedeheon” (Bukchon Hanok Village appears in several scenes where Rumi and Jinwoo meet, walking on the rooftops and conversing and singing…).
The village’s narrow alleys and hanok roofs create a quaint atmosphere. It also boasts numerous cultural experiences, including traditional tea houses, galleries, craft shops, and hanbok rental shops. The Bukchon Traditional Culture Center offers information and hands-on programs on hanok architecture and culture, and visitors can stroll through the village in hanbok and take photos.
Easily accessible by foot from Exit 3 of Anguk Station (Line 3) or Exit 6 of Jongno 3-ga Station (Subway Line 3). Admission is free. Bukchon Hanok Village is a space where tradition and modernity harmoniously blend, making it a great place to experience the old side of Seoul and gain a deeper understanding of Korean culture.
