Travel Map: Seoul
Lotte World Mall | 롯데월드몰
The massive shopping complex connected to Lotte World Tower in Jamsil
Introduction
Shopping, food, a supermarket for snack souvenirs, and an aquarium. All under one roof, connected to Lotte World Tower and the theme park by underground passages.
Worth Visiting?
If you are already in Jamsil for Lotte World, Seokchon Lake, or the tower, you will probably end up here anyway. The mall connects to everything underground. On its own, it is a solid rainy day plan or a place to kill time comfortably. It has better food options than most Seoul malls, a decent aquarium, and a grocery mart in the basement that is worth browsing even if you are not cooking.
Skip it if you are short on time and not interested in malls. Seoul has plenty of more unique shopping experiences.
Highlights
Lotte Avenuel
The luxury department store section. High-end fashion, cosmetics, and accessories across multiple floors. Well laid out and less overwhelming than some of the older department stores in Seoul.
Food Floors (5F-6F)
A wide range of restaurants from Korean to international. The quality is noticeably better than typical mall food courts. If you are spending the day in Jamsil, eating here before or after Lotte World is a smart move.
Lotte Mart (B1F-B2F)
A large supermarket in the basement. Great for picking up Korean snacks, instant noodles, sauces, and other food souvenirs at normal prices. Less tourist-inflated than shops in Myeongdong.
Lotte World Aquarium (B1F-B2F)
Spread across two basement floors with 13 themed zones. It has the largest water tank and longest underwater tunnel in Korea. Good for families or if you want something low-effort to pair with a tower visit. Not a must-see on its own, but solid if you are already in the building.
Lotte Duty Free
Tax-free shopping floors for international visitors. Worth checking if you are buying luxury goods or cosmetics. Bring your passport.
Local Tips
- The mall connects directly to Jamsil Station underground, to Lotte World Tower, and to Lotte World Adventure. You can move between all of them without going outside.
- Lotte Mart in the basement is one of the best places in Seoul to buy food souvenirs at local prices. Go here instead of tourist shops.
- Tax refund is available for purchases over KRW 15,000 per item. Look for the refund counter or kiosk near the exits.
- The aquarium is fine but not essential. Only go if you have extra time or are travelling with kids.
- Weekday mornings are the quietest. Weekends get busy, especially around the food floors.
Getting There
By Subway (Recommended)
- Jamsil Station (Line 2 / Line 8), Exit 1 or 2. Follow signs to Lotte World Mall through the underground passage. The mall is directly connected.
